    Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and Lead Nursing Administrative Supervisor, is responsible for supervision over the activities of nursing staff on assigned shift to maintain continuity of patient care. Ensures optimal utilization of resources to meet patient care needs. Assesses the overall status of the hospital and implements the appropriate course of action. Responsible for administrative decisions and timely notification of the administrator on-call or other appropriate personnel.

    Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:

    1. Directs and supports the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of delivery of patient care
    2. Responsible for shift to shift staffing adjustmentsManages the resolution of issues that arise during the course of the shift .
    3. Executes decisions in the absence of the Hospital Administrator.
    4. Determines need to contact Administrator on Call.
    5. Handles behavioral and disciplinary issues among the staff as needed.
    6. Reports any staff behavioral or disciplinary issues to the appropriate manager or leader
    7. Responsible for notifying the administrator on call of any potentially litigious, publicly reportable, or sentinel events or other major issues that could affect the facility
    8. Oversight of patient complaints and service recovery effortsInitiates and oversees all emergency response plans as needed in the absence of an administrator
    9. Manages and facilitates safe and efficient throughput efforts in order to provide appropriate level of care for the patients
    10. Collaborates with unit leadership on decisions regarding patient care service
    11. Ensures that regulatory standards are met in accordance with State and JC guidelinesActively participates in setting, monitoring and achieving goals for the department.
    12. Promotes and facilitates continuous quality improvement activities to ensure the provision of and improvement upon safe and quality patient care.
    13. Participates in supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.

    *Reports to:  Lead Nursing Administrative Supervisor

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

    • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
    • Current Georgia license to practice as a R.N
    • Minimum of one year of supervisory experienceB.S. in Nursing preferred
