    Responsible for a variety of duties which involve development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive health care system for patients. Also, provides clinical assessment of the patient’s condition. Develops, Implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing to ensure optimal patient care. Develops, schedules, and coordinates training programs for staff growth and development in the assigned unit(s).



    1. Provides specialized direct and indirect care within assigned unit(s).
    2. Responsible for making, developing, implementing and evaluating policies and procedures related to nursing.
    3. Coordinates formal/informal educational offerings for staff.
    4. Participates in daily rounds to ensure compliance with standards of practice.
    5. Observes, interviews, and assesses patients to identify care needs
    6. Collaborates with other health care professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care
    7. Makes clinical recommendations to physicians, other health care providers, or patients based on information gathered by observing and interviewing patients, or by analyzing patient records
    8. Evaluates patient care and outcomes and implements quality measures as necessary.
    9. Develops, implements, or evaluates standards of nursing practice in assigned unit(s).
    10. Directs or supervises nursing care staff in the provision of patient therapy
    11. Maintains “real-time readiness” by ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, OSHA, HCFA).
    12. Reads current literature, collaborates with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing and promote growth and development
    13. Coordinates/participates in departmental and system-wide performance improvement activities and committees.
    14. Supports and encourages attendance at unit-based Partnership Council
    15. Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.
    16. Participates in supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
    17. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.




    Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

    ·         Master’s Degree in Nursing from of an accredited school of nursing

    ·         Three years job related experience.

    ·         Current Georgia license to practice as a registered nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse.

    ·         OR Department: CNOR certification within 1 year of hire required.

    ·         Additional required qualifications include computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel.

    ·         Preferred qualifications include experience in directing, teaching and supervising nursing personnel.
