  • Responsibilities


    The Imager-MRI is responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures with minimal supervision. Works with the physicians and all other staff members to ensure patient care is performed with the highest quality and efficiency.



    • Maintain patient confidentiality to include:
    • Record release
    • Unnecessary conversation regarding patient information
    • Professional and ethical conduct
    • Provide documentation if incidents occur
    • Complete skills checklists annually to demonstrate competency
    • Contribute to the continuum of patient care by communicating intra- and interdepartmentally
    • Continuously strive for excellent patient satisfaction
    • Maintain room preparation
    • Report any equipment malfunction to supervisor
    • Operate computer systems to include
      • HBOC
      • PACS
      • SCM
      • SMS
      • Tempus
      • E File Share
    • Actively participate in the assessment and improvement of the quality of patient care and departmental services, under the direction of the Supervisor and /or Manager, the Technical Director of Imaging Services, associated medical staff departments and committee chairperson and the QC/PI Coordinator.
    • Promote teamwork and approach working relationships in manner which reduces conflicts and prevents stress with:
      • Radiologists
      • Referring physicians
      • Supervisors
      • Peer groups
      • Other Imaging Services personnel
      • Other hospital personnel
    • Strive to be a good professional role model
    • Maintain professional development and participate in continuing education
    • Act as mentor to students assigned in room/service
    • Complete clinical critique sheets on student performance and return to Clinical Coordinator
    • Complete weekly evaluations and return to Clinical Coordinator in a timely manner


    Required Competencies:

    • Staff will demonstrate knowledge and skill in their particular job to include but not limited to the following:
      • Delivery of age-appropriate care (verbal and non‑verbal)
      • Equipment operation
      • Venipuncture / contrast administration except for those who work in Ultrasound, PCD practices, Breast Center, and as PRN status
      • Procedures set by the department
      • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include operation of the AED devices
      • Ergonomic practice
      • Annual level II MR safety education



    Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

    ·         Registered or registry eligible by ARRT in ARRT

    ·         BCLS certified

    ·         Attend in-services required by DeKalb Medical and Imaging Services specific

    ·         Attends annual level II MR safety education

    ·         May be hired as registry eligible for 1 year; contingent on passing registry



    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:


    • Performs skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable.
    • Demonstrates and maintains competencies specific to patient population served.



    Reports to: Reports to Floor supervisors, Manager, Director, & Radiologists.


    Positions Supervised: Provides guidance for the Radiology Students & Transporter as applicable.
