The Transporter provides safe transportation of patients to and from patient care areas. May include, but not limited to, transport of patients from ED to inpatient bed, transport of discharged patients to pick-up areas, transport of direct admits from lobby to inpatient unit, transport of patients to and from procedures.
Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
Ensures safe transfer of patients from bed, chair, treatment table, and/or any other surface area.
Maintains transportation equipment in a clean, orderly manner following Infection Control standards established by the hospital.
Responsible for pick-up, delivery and return of items which are essential for delivery of patient care.Rounds on patient care units and returns discontinued equipment to Central Supply.
Responsible for collecting unused beds/stretchers/wheelchairs and returning to appropriate areas.Delivers specimens to the Lab as requested.
Monitors progression of procedures, being immediately available to perform needed tasks.
Transports patients as directed to include patients from the ED, DTC, & OP Surgery
Performs light cleaning duties as needed.
Transports supplies/equipment & stocks supplies as necessary.
Confines and disposes of all linen and trash as appropriate and replaces the liners.Assists with positioning and immobilization of patients as directed.
Maintains patient confidentiality to include record release.Projects positive image by responding to request for supplies in friendly and receptive manner.
Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.
Participates in supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.
Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
High School graduate or GED is required.
