Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Security Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating communications, dispatching Security Officers, monitoring video and access control.  

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.
  2. Monitors two-way radio transmissions from the three campuses
  3. Dispatches Security Officers (S/O’s) to service calls and emergency responses
  4. Maintains constant awareness of available response units, in order to dispatch calls appropriately and
  5. efficiently.
  6. Maintains contact with response units to provide information and instructions regarding emergencies and
  7. service requests.
  8. Determines the nature and location of the emergency; determines priorities and dispatches police, fire ambulance or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.
  9. Assists in the coordination of an accurate response.
  10. Monitors and operates a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones, computers, fire systems and access control.
  11. Documents Security Officer activities in a shift log.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.

  1. Ability to speak clearly and concisely over the radio and telephone.
  2. Excellent verbal communication skills. Communicates clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers. Bilingual skills strongly desired.

  4. Oral Comprehension: The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  5. Speech Recognition: The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.

  21. Public Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective hospital security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

 

Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

  • High school education or GED
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum of two years 911 dispatch operator experience preferred
  • CCTV experience preferred

 

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a shift Security Supervisor
