The OR Attendant assists the nursing and anesthesia staff in patient care through transport of patients, environmental sanitation, and the retrieval and/or disposition of supplies and equipment.
Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
Transports patients as directed.
Transports specimens when needed.
Transports blood for transfusions.
Sets up hip fracture tables, Beach Chair, Hip Arthroscopy, and other equipment when needed.
Assists with patient positioning and restraint when needed.
Monitors progression of procedures so that correct patient bed is available with clean linen and a full tank of oxygen at the appropriate time.
Responsible for cleaning of each OR suite between procedures (trash, linen, wet mopping, suction).
Assists with restocking sub sterile areas (water, saline, sheets, suction canisters, infection gowns, etc).
Assists with maintaining unsterile storage area.
Demonstrates willingness and cooperation with the surgical team.
Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.

Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.
Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
High school graduate or equivalent
BLS Healthcare Provider certification
Able to follow directions
Able to respond quickly to assigned task
